Day 4 was a bit slower than expected. But overall the meeting was strong for just about every manufacturer and dealer I spoke with. Sorry to those that I didn't get to speak to but being DSP means I have to lay low sometimes and do my sales job too, LOL. I will upload some photos from the meeting tomorrow.
Check out Kevin Henry's videos from the meeting.

Bussyyy is the operative word. This year's Greater NY has been very active. Less vendors mean more room to move around, but it seems that there were a lot more buyers this year. Stayed tuned for pictures and a more complete review when I get some time. Great to see everyone at Rosie's. Should have a more formal networking event at Yankee or Mid-Winter.

Fun stuff riding the commuter train into Penn Station with a giant suitcase packed for 4 nights. Standing room only on the train everyone is headed into NYC to do some early Christmas shopping. Hope the meeting is good this year.

Everyone get some rest and eat some turkey. You're going to need the energy if you are headed to the longest dental meeting in the US. Saturday set up, Sunday busy, Monday and Tuesday dead and Wednesday who knows.

Have a great Thanksgiving

The Henry Schein National Sales Meeting is officially over. This year was jam packed with activity. Partly because it was shortened by a day. I truly believe that this year's meeting was the best one yet.
The Gaylord Opryland is the original Gaylord and the largest. I got lost in the hotel at least 5 times. The hotel was fantastic and the energy level of Team Schein was unbelievable. These meetings really do pump you up.
To top it all off, the awards dinner was held at the…

Appearing in the May issue of the DSP e-newsletter
Are you really that important?
Are we just sales people or are we more than that? Sometimes being alone in our cars, running in and out of offices, traveling to different towns, different cities, meeting indifferent customers, make us question just how important we really are.
The answer is VERY important. Our industry revolves around the mouth -- the oral cavity is the gateway to the body…

2008 ended as a flop, at least as far as meetings go. New York was the only silver lining in an otherwise dismal year of meetings. Even the Dental Trade Alliance had a lot to say about meetings. Oh, it was wasn't very positive.!
Not sure how 09 will play out, but we will all certainly have to work harder and may even have to
recreate ourselves as sales people to compete in these tough economic times.
Thoughts now go to closing out the equipment deals for…
