Have heard conflicting reports about traffic and sales for the last day of the Mid-Winter Meeting. Anywhere from "very slow" to "packed and a banner day for sales". My guess is that this had a lot to do with preselling the show and whether the company had any new and different products to demo at the meeting.
How did your company do?

By all accounts Friday made up for the slow start on Thursday. Spoke to several DSP members and they were all very happy with traffic and sales for Friday.
Meeting was in McCormick West this year and was well laid out. Love the fact that the booth numbers were on the floor in front of each booth.
The DSP/ Proofs Mid-Winter Meet Up was a blast. Great to see Mark

The Mid-Winter Meeting which just went from 4 to 3 days has started out slow. Great events and good traffic, but Thursday turned out to be a a tire kicking day. Friday and Saturday should be much stronger.
See you all after the meeting at the M/X bar.

I have over 3 years of experience working in sales in the equipment
financing/leasing industry. I help businesses grow by assisting them in
acquiring equipment. Our company can help any company out there in all
50 states whether they are an established or start up company.
Paramount Financial Services is a leader in the equipment/vehicle
financing and leasing industry, and I am sure you will appreciate
working with a direct lender vs. a typical broker.

I am in need of an equipment company in the Omaha, NE area qualified to install 10 rooms of dental equipment ( chairs, units, track lights, cabinets, and utilities, no x-rays ). We would need a preliminary job site visit to inspect plumbing and electrical, post construction visit, and installation of the ten ops. This is a single story building with easy access. We are a full service government dental supply contractor that subcontracts dental dealers across the country for these government inst…

Each of us performs many roles in our lives: father, son, mother, daughter, sister, brother. As sales reps we also perform many roles in a dental office: equipment expert, business advisor, information supplier, friend, and confidant. It is important to understand these roles to understand how you fit into your clients’ offices and how you can best serve your clients in order to grow your own business.
I worked for several years with a sales rep that was not very popular in the industry. Most d…

After talking to several manufacturers and dealers at the Yankee the verdict is that it was a
much better meeting than the 2009 Yankee. More traffic, better sales...an improving venue.
South Boston is starting to grow around the new convention center. There is the Westin next door and the Renaissance across the street. Each has its own bars and restaurants. Some new restaurants have recently sprung up in South Boston and there were several new buildings being constructed near the convent…

A real quick report on the Yankee so far.
Thursday
Great weather (for Boston)
Foot traffic - very strong
Buying - not so strong
Friday
Awfully cold - sub zero wind chill
Foot traffic - strong
Buying - very strong, much better than last year.
Saturday
To be determined.
There seemed to be less exhibitors in the hall this year. Aisle seemed a bit wider and booths a bit smaller.
The organizers of the Yankee were scanning the passes of all attendees. This will enable…

I have been flying a bit more in 2010 and the one thing I that I haven't noticed is
much of an increase in security. I was frisked in one airport and not in another. It seems to be business as usual inspite of the underwear bomber incident during Christmas. I am not saying that the TSA is doing a bad job I thought things might be a bit different.
What are you experiencing?

Networking: For your customers benefit
We normally think about networking from the stand point of how it benefits us. Most of us know that networking is important to advance our careers. It is also key if you are looking to change careers. How many times have you heard of someone who gained business or a new job because he/she “knew someone”? Maybe this has even been the case for you. It could even be argued that the more successful someone is the more networked they are. Simply p…

As a new year begins, many people are setting goals for themselves, either personal or professional. Setting good professional goals makes us push ourselves to learn more and improve our sales and business skills. By now, most of you will know how much you sold in 2009, and you would probably like to sell even more in 2010.
There are many ways to set effective goals, but my personal favorite is to follow the SMART method. SMART stands for:
S Specific
M Measurable
A Attaina…

The Sales Bag
Salespeople have an intimate relationship with their sales bag; it is almost impossible to be successful in sales without spending at least a few moments thinking about your sales bag and the items contained in it. Still, I regularly hear stories about Sales Reps that are woefully unprepared to do their job. One of my favorite stories involved a new Dental Rep who visited an office without a pen. I guess she thought that her chances of getting an order were pretty slim. She…
