I have been in the dental industry for 17+ years. I began as a direct sales representative for American Orthodontics. From there, I represented Dentsply Caulk in Northern Michigan. I spent the 9 1/2 years as a distributor representative with Henry Schein Dental, and also represented the Harry J. Bosworth Company. After a brief attempt at being an Independent Direct sales representative, I recently teamed up with Dental Health Products, Inc. as an Outside Account Manager.

My name is Benjamin Oliver and I guess you could call me an aspiring dental sales rep. I have applied to several open positions within your company, namely Nashville Tennessee and Knoxville TN. So I'm waiting on Innovative solutions group to tell me if I have a second interview at Schein. I had a rather long interview,1.5 hrs, with Innovative Solutions for a expansion territory in Knoxville Tennessee this past thursday. It went pretty well, I think he was just concerned with the fact that I have no sales experience. He was, however, completely impressed with my knowledge of Henry Schein and the dental sales community in general. I owe all of this knowledge to this website! Anyway, I was reading your blog post about how much it cost for you to go to trade shows because you aren't reimbursed. That got me thinking about what my interviewer told me about my expected compensation. Other than base salary he said there would be a bonus program as well as a 5000 dollar car allowance. At Schein, does that $5000 include your gas, or do you have to pay that out of pocket?
Hi Mike, being a Schein representative, what's your feeling on the Gendex line of equipment and the company as a whole? Do you think the Gendex sales position to be full of promise or otherwise?
