- Whoa ... hate to say this but... I started in the biz 45 yrs. ago as a sales trainee at MF Patterson. From there to a retail territory in Omaha for a year then to the home office in Minneapolis as University Manager and Sales Training Director. Ended my stay in retail as the National Marketing Manager. Left MFP to become the National Sales and Marketing manager at a newly formed company called Den-Tal-Ez. Following a very exciting few years introducing the world to sit-down dentistry I moved to Hawaii and subsequently the Fiji Islands where I lived on a chicken farm when not sailing my 50 ft. homemade ferro-cement tri-marian. After too much time in the sun I was offered the opportunity to develop the international marketing plan for Adec. After a year of planning I opted to become the Asia Pacific rep for the company. I served in this capacity for over 25 years covering everything between Japan and Burma as well as Australia and New Zealand. During this period my family and I founded a company in Hong Kong called Adrienne Yo Publishing (yes... it comes from Rocky "Yo Adrienne') The company started the Asia Pacific Dental News and several other publications along the way becoming the largest multi-language dental publisher in the world. Some of you may know my wife Jill (who is still the editor); Leslie Christine my daughter (now DentalCompare.com); My son Allen (ADA Publications) and my other son Johnee GM DentalCompare.com. I left Adec at the end of 1995 to start an internet company in NY called Hot Response. It was a huge failure but was the first company to attempt to put a dental shopping mall on-line. Subsequently became President of EMS USA from which I retired in 2000. I currently am President of a small international marketing and sales company called JOSS International. I am a Director of Interactive Dental Imaging (IDI) and Contego International. In 1992 I won the Writers Digest National Poetry Contest against 19,000 entrants... hmmmm... bit of luck there! I wrote a novel in 2003 that no one wants but was a fun project nevertheless. Life is good with three great kids, eight grand-kids, great health, a superb wife and wonderful friends. There you have it ... 45 fantastic years in a few sentences. Brevity is indeed the art of communication.
