I have been visiting and speaking with many dentist in California and they all are complaining of being slow and able to charge patients their full fee. Many offices are taking more time off because they just don't have any patients. Others are stating that with the cut in DentCal they have lost patients and PPO patients are now on HMO plans. California has really been hit hard with this economy. I would love to hear what is going on in your areas.

Regina, From discussion with the Dentist here in Tennessee, business is still good. I was at a General Dentist office a couple of days ago and he was very busy.

Mironda, I appreciate the information. The dentist I know outside California all seem to be keeping busy. The competition here is tough. A new clinic opened called Dental Implant Super Center. They are advertising same day implant for $799 / implant crown $599. Private practices just can't compete.

Regina, Have you noticed that there are more "centers" lately? I have been pulling information on them and could not believe how many there are.

Yes they are growing at a rapid pace. I have worked with a practice management company in the past and the dentist that have a great sense for business have purchasing and have gone into running multi practices. Just to comment on one of them, the dentist owns 23 practices in Kentucky. He has an office manager that started with him over 18 yrs ago and is now his business manager (she earns $29,000 per month).
