Manufacturer Representatives

I can't speak for your territory but I have been a manaufacturer rep for 2 companies over 25 years. It comes down to how people are treated and how they are paid. You get what you pay for. They are poorly trained and not prepared for what it takes to succeed. Today it's about instant gratification.

Ken, I couldn't agree with you more! We live in a microwave society, and unfortunatley to many people ask "What's in it for me?" rather then "What can I do for the company".... Ken or anyone, I'm trying to make a career shift into the dental sale rep or dental consultant position and find it hard to even locate the Dental company career opportunities. What is the best way that you have found to search for employment?

There are headhunters who specialize in dental; I personally have no experience with that, but it may expedite the process?

Hello Nancy,

I am a recruiter who focuses on the Med/Dental Supply and Packaging industries. For the most part, it's extremely difficult to get into a company with a headhunter if you have no previous experience in the industry, ie, no existing book of business to speak of. In this economic time, the only succusses (atleast what I've had) have been moving experieced/exceptional people from one company to another. That's not to say you can't do that on your own. Speaking to decision makers might be the best way to go about finding a position. Unfortunately, companies won't pay recruiters any kind of fee for people with no experiences in the industry...at least as of now.
