The recent dramatic events in the evolution of the $102 billion US Dental Services Industry are the most important since Chapin A. Harris started the profession in the 1840s. American dentistry now faces a classic paradigm shift. The traditional model of dentistry--the bio-mechanical model--usually known as "drill, fill, and bill" has entered the decline stage of its life cycle, mathematically speaking. Likewise, the entire industry has entered into an extremely unstable condition, called "unstable equilibrium." It's an alarming predicament because numerous other industries in this condition have suddenly and violently collapsed, marked by violent, widespread "shakeouts." The collapse of the venerated, 200-year old Swiss Watch industry (1975-1979) is a cogent example. It's often expressed as: "the bottom fell out." What drives this predicament is the same phenomena that drive avalanches, wildfires, and stock market crashes.
In my direct experience during the past two years, not only are dentists totally unaware of this predicament, they refuse to believe the hard, incontrovertible, scientific evidence. Groupthink is epidemic. Groupthink always precedes disasters going back to the fall of the ancient city of Babylon, 539 BC.
Fortunately, there is good news. Progressive provider and supplier organizations in industries facing a paradigm shift can enjoy unprecedented opportunity for growth, high profits, stability, and a dominant market positioning by following the five principles of survival is such environments and making the "breakout." These five principles were discovered by a brilliant business scholar at the Harvard School of Business three decades ago. Surprisingly, these principles have been totally ignored!
Now, it's time to bring this good news to all incumbents in the US Dental Service Industry, before it's too late. For more insight, visit: http://rightmovesproject.com and http://dental.rightmovesproject.com
PS: Time is literally running out to successfully implement the five principles!
