Thefts against dentists are a huge problem. Publshed statistics suggest that the probability of a dentist being victimized in his or her career is about 60%, and we are seeing an average loss of about $100k.

This phenomenon affects everyone who sells to dentists in terms of diminished buying capacity of victims as well as a generalized loss of trust in people.

My company works full time in the prevention, detection and remediation of fraud against dentists, and we want to engage people who sell to dentists in a discussion about fraud.

Well I have certainly heard a lot of stories from reps that have seen their dentists robbed blind by their Office Managers and half the time they aren't prosecuted because the dentist is embarrassed.

Almost invariably when we debrief sales reps after a fraud, they knew something was up. Typically, they weren't able to flag whatever unusual behavior they saw as fraud, but in many cases they knew that something wasn't right.
