I have just begun working on an exciting project for our industry. The results of our interviews and research will be published in various formats including an industry specific sales book, webinars and perhaps even articles for all to benefit by.

We will assemble a panel of subject matter experts (SME) who are at the top of their game selling in Dentistry. It doesn't matter how long they have been in the industry...just that they are recognized (formally and informally) as the top in their company.

Who might you recommend we talk to? and why? (please be specific)
We are interested in manufacturer reps, Independents and retail reps.

How do you measure best? Is it longevity with one company, increased sales year over year, highest GP, most co-travel days, how much one earns, how much their offices like them, how their peers think of them?

Just thought I'd ask.

Thank you for the request for clarity.....Since different companies and cultures measure 'success' or the Best in their business through various metrics, we deliberately left this open for the respondents justification by asking 'Why' you have recommended this person.

This is an intruiguing project, but I'm sure many of my colleagues would expect renumeration for their participation. After all, experience equals value, right? Will selected participants be compensated? Do you envision a conflict of interest with employers who hire talented individuals based on their know-how and may not be comfortable with them sharing it openly?

What is your specific dental industry background (it was not too clear from the bio on your web site)?

Absolutely, Carioca. We have arranged an exceptional compensation stipend for those who are selected to participate in the various aspects of this project. Afterall, time is money!

I do not anticipate those who particpate in this project will be 'scarcity minded' enough to really worry about issues of sharing competitive secrets or insights that jeopardize company privacy rules. It has been my experience that most top producers in any industry or profession are 'abundant minded'. As I help you and you help others the pie gets bigger and we all win!

Oh, I fogot to mention to answer your question about by credentials. After this many years (25) in our small industry of Dentistry, I just figured we all know each other! :)

I graduated from dental hygiene school in West Virginia, practiced in the tri state area of Pittsburgh for several years before joining a variety of dental manufacturers who sold through distribution. I was fortunate to be a part of the original high-tech team that introduced the first intra oral cameras to Dentistry. Throughout each of the roles, I held as a representative, I was recognized as a top producer.

I held roles as sales manager, Director of Sales and Director of Education for different dental companies. It was out of the desire to help other dental representatives and companies to improve their sales performance I founded ANSIR International in 1993. Today, we have conducted training programs for more dental companies and provided sales training for more reps (both manufacturers and distributors) than firm in the world. I have had hundreds of articles published in print and on line media and serve as a subject matter expert in the area of sales, training ROI and adult learning.

Our focus for the future is to provide convenient, affordable, content-rich educational experiences for dental sales representatives and their companies who are committed to being the BEST in their businesses!
