Need help on a research project - total number of dental sales reps in U.S. & differences from pharma sales?

depends on what type of dental sales reps you are looking for.  Direct manufacturer, distribution, manufacturers that sell through distribution, lab, equipment, services..

 

It can be compiled.  The Dental Trade Alliance would be a good place to start although you'd probably have to become a member. 

 

As far as how the dental industry differs from medical sales, larger margins (although that is changing) smaller industry, less government regulation (although that is changing as well).

This is a tough number to get a handle on.

How many reps does Schein have 1200?

Patterson 500?

Benco?

Then all of the direct reps?

I'd estimate the total number at 2500 - 2800

But just a guess

Thanks for your responses. I did end up contacting someone at the DTA, and they were extremely helpful, so I appreciate the suggestion.
