I have an interview with Dentsply and was wondering what feedback members might have about the company.

Thanks,

One of the biggest players in dental manufacturing. Territories tend to be geographically small. This enables the rep to form strong relationships with the individual offices as well as the dealer reps in your territory. Visit their website and check out the latest news on Dentsply. We have some of that news here!

Do you know what division of Dentsply you are interviewing for?

DSP
Thanks for your feedback. My strength is definitely closing more business via strong relationships, so this could make the small territory an advantage. I saw their latest news (now on S&P 500) and some of the comments on the DSP site. Good stuff. Also, in answer to your question, this is for the Prosthetics division.
I spent 7 years with Caulk (Mgt & Field sales) so I can't speak for the other divisions. Dysfunctional at best! Has a history of high turnover and intense micromanagement in the sales organization.
Good to know. What do you feel made you successful there for 7 years if you encountered what you felt was dysfunctionality? How did you work around the tough points? Any tips you have I can apply to wherever I land, since every job comes with good and challenging points. Thanks! What other companies would you suggest applying with?
Caveat Emptor. Another ex-employee here. There are almost as many of us "ex's" as there are current employees. Turnover is shocking, especially in field sales, regardless of division. One division just hired it's 4th director of marketing in as many years. Marketing departments in constant flux. Consequently launches are flawed, late and resources are non-existent.

Dealer reps are hesitant to spend any time with Dentsply reps because of the turnover. "Here today, gone later today." New retail sales database means you spend more time planning, reporting and tracking than ever before. Call expectations don't go down, your hours just keep going up.

Try to speak with a current rep if you can. Check out www.cafepharma.com and speak with your dentist and dealer rep. Go in with your eyes open and listen to your inner voice. And if you get hired, keep your head down, do your job and never ever complain or suggest a better way to do something.
Wow, I guess I should step in here. I think most manufacturers have a decent amount of turnover. I have seen some turnover at Dentsply, but there all also reps that have been with the company for many years. I can't disagree completely with Susie q and Mark, but there are plenty of dental companies that have a similar pattern.

I think a manager can make or break an opportunity at a company. If you feel like you can work for this person then go for it.

Dentsply has some great products and some great opportunities, but you have to work for it!
Hi Mindy,

Current rep for Dentsply Professional in the PA/NJ area. Feel free to contact me, I'd love to speak with you.
Thanks, Rick! I sent sent you a "friend" request via DSP so we can chat more. Mainly, I'd like to know what you like about the company overall. Cheers!
Hello Rick. My name is Bob Cummings and came across this older exchange as I was touring the sight. Looking to get back into the dental industry after leaving quite a few years ago to run our family business. Spent two great years with Johnson & Johnson Dental Products Company and I trust much has changed. Can you direct me to a key point of contact at Dentsply? Who are the other major mfgrs that compare to Dentsply? My email address is RTCGlass@aol.com. Hope to hear from you soon. Best Regards - Bob
Thanks for your feedback. I'll check out cafepharma.com as a good starting place. What other companies do you suggest applying with?
Mindy,

Do not trust that Rick Williams guy!! Just kidding, him and I are good friends. We both work for Dentsply. Don't believe everything you hear about companies. Every company does things really well, and every company has flaws. We are the biggest name in the Dental industry, so that should tell you something. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions, but it is really a great company and job.
