Best of luck at the Hinman! No tornados this year, please. :-)

Given that more states are allowing hygienists to practice outside a traditional dental office (mobile services), I'd say B.

Stefan
I say A.

Simply because every dentist works in an office, but not every dentist has a hygienist. If dentists didn't fear technology and get frustrated with office efficiencies, all dentists would be using digital radiography and lasers.
and cerec (or some other product of the sort)
I would think in these trying economic times - answer A is an investment - meaning they will have to invest in the use of the new technology to see the return, perhaps they feel now is not the time therefore the fear/or lack of faith in something new could be simply a defense position.

Answer B - the hygienist provides revenue, even if she is not a team player, so again I tend to lean towards maintaining current status would be the dentist comfort zone.

I am curious if dentist are seeing a slow down in chair bookings? And are patients putting off everything (elective treatment vs must have) until the ecomony turns?

Curious to see how the Hinman traffic responds...please let us know!
Updating their technology because that costs money out-of-pocket...the RDH is a revenue source that the doctor knows will eventually need to be replaced and is easily replaced.
I believe "A". With the economic reset in full force, doctors may be more resistant to purchase capital equipment especially if there is a learning curve associated with it. If it takes too much time and money, that equates a decrease in revenue/production.

There are likely hygienists that have lost there jobs in one practice, looking for opportunities in another. Those positions may likely be filled with ease.

That's my two-cents
Updating their office. Hygienists can make them$$---lots of girls to choose from in this economy. Updating makes them think and think and think and think about spending money, financing, training, making the money up from the investment, is it the right time, am I getting the best deal, will the technology change next year, what if the team members I traing leave, .................. ;)
