Do you sterilize your toothbrush?
Dentists sterilize their instruments - consumers have become more conscious of germs and bacteria, this is supported by the number of hand sanitizers we see in our everyday travels. The term "germaphobes" is very 21st century. Yet most people store their toothbrushes in a bacteria filled cup or simply in an open air toothbrush holder. Ever smell the moisture that builds up in that cup or notice the white buildup of toothpaste and ........well whatever the heck that is?
Violight (visit www.violight.com or www.violightprofessional.com) seems to have a solution and maybe you're like me, wondering "why didn't somebody think of this sooner?" It seems that the company launched a huge consumer campaign and now rumor has it that they are building a salesforce. My question to you is - "Do you think dentists will embrace their product?" They make a toothbrush holder that uses UV technology to eliminate 99.9% of germs and bacteria. As a dental sales professional - would you buy one? Thanks for offering feedback....

Great idea. I would buy one! How about a sterilizer for mouth guards and ortho appliances.
Is this product being sold through the dealer network or direct?

They will be going direct! And.....they have a dental spa for mouth guards - retainers and dentures.

The dental spa should be offered by every dentist after a mouth appliance is sold. They can get funky and unlike a toothbrush they are way too expensive to throw away.

I bought mine at Macy's. It's the travel version but I use it for daily use as well. It only cost $30 for the travel and $50 for the standup version. Makes sooo much sense. The kicker though for marketing and sales is that not only is it functional and overall affordable, but it just looks cool!! A product in the dental industry can't just be functional anymore. Look a the evolution of dental chairs for example. I want one in my living room! It's almost like a conversation piece.Say you are having a get together and people use your restroom. I would bet that at least a couple of people ask you about it.

Good information,
For my customers sports-guards, bleaching trays and toothbrushes.....I use a device that is both a UV light for disinfecting, a strong ultrasonic unit and utilizes something newer in dentistry called Ag Nano-Technology that has proven to get rid of bacteria, germs and even most viruses, at $44 is a steal for a unit that is totally portable and works on a 5 minute cycle!!!

UV toothbrush sterilizers are nothing new; different brands have appeared throughout the years. All that being said, there are probably plenty of people that have not seen these and are willing to buy another electronic gadget for their countertop. For me, a shot glass filled with Cool Blue Listerine (or any other antibacterial mouthwash) is a perfect place to park my toothbrush. Effective, inexpensive, and tastes better too!
