When I first heard about Invisalign's new "minimum case" policy, I had mixed feelings. My first--albeit kneejerk--reaction was "That'll tick off a bunch of dentists...some company needs to come in with a no minimum policy...they could clean up." Then, after thinking about it for a while, I thought "well, if a dentist is REALLY using the product to his/her best advantage, they should be doing ten cases a year ANYWAY. So, what's the big deal?"

Here's how I think it is likely to play out: ClearCorrect will, obviously, take all of the low volume business from Invisalign. This is a no-brainer. How many of those are there? Not sure. They may also take a few doctors from Invisalign who just simply resent being told how many cases they have to do. I have heard of a few of these.

Invisalign will retain the die-hard doctors that think Invisalign is the second coming...this is also a no-brainer. The fight will be for the doctors that like the idea, use the product, but aren't particularly tied to a brand.

Competition is good...let the games begin!
