Hi All,

Has anyone else received an anonymous memo in the mail seeking an Industry boycott of the Yankee and ADA meetings?

Retail turnout/results at shows has become a real issue with little or nothing being done about it on the Industry side (wake up DTA). Opinions?

I'm still chasing leads from the IDS! :-)

I guess my point is that we may not be aware of the DTA's activities to improve the trade show experience for the Industry. As pointed out in another thread, it is easy to be critical from the sidelines. The change in the Chicago Midwinter schedule and venue may be a good step, but only time will tell.

You made a good point, but I wonder how this will affect airline costs with no "Saturday-night stayovers". Still, if exhibit attendance (and sales) improve, everything may balance out in the end.

Now, if only the DTA could get the GNYDM to shorten its show by a day, THAT would be an accomplishment! :)

Back in the day GNYDM was a 5 day meeting.
Were the meetings more productive from a retail standpoint back then?

Yes, absolutely. A lot of that had to do with the fact that there were no quarterly specials. The only way a dentist could get a special was at a meeting or possibly a "co-travel" special. Now they can get the same specials all year long.
