Hey Eli,

Do you know the pricing on these 3D scanners? Any reviews or input on which are best?

Thanks,

DSP
yes...$150K - 200K
yep, you are correct...and when the Doctor who asks that questions finds out that this is the cost ...off we go to another direction. I think that until the prices come down there will be far more presentations than sales, IMHO.
That resistance to the high price of the Cone Beam Machines will evaporate when the first lawsuit is won that asks the question "why wasn't the patient offered and given a ct scan prior to the implant you placed severing her mandibular nerve?" When that one hits the presses, the Dr will realize that these machines are revolutionary and benefit patients on many levels. I heard of a case last week where a dr who owned a CBCT machine did a routine implant scan and saw a mass. Referred the patient to radiologist, which identified it as a cancerous tumor, which was immediately removed before it matastasized. Its shouldn't always be about the money when peoples lives are at stake

If you are looking into CBCT, I advise looking here first. We have a 65% marketshare. (source: conebeam.com)

Kind of an odd question, which is "best" best price? best image? best ease of use? best support?

It's almost a full time job keeping up with the number of machines on the market, I think that number is around 40 now. The number continues to grow. I think it is a safe bet that there will be a shake out, the market can not support the number of machines that are out there today.

We are in the midst of a revolution 3 dimensional imaging has been around since the 1970s, thanks to sir Houndsfield, it's only been since the mid 90's that we have seen significant growth, thanks to the lower cost and far lower patient absorbed dose brought about by CBCT thanks QR/srl.

It's my belief that our panoramic technology will be replaced by cone beam, the line is already starting to blur with the newest pan units. Panoramic has always been a technology in need of improvement, it's too technique sensitive. Our Dr.s often accept less than adequate pans due to their concern of re-exposing the patient.

The bottom line.........there is no best. There are leaders, there are innovators. Then there are the rest.

QR/srl and Imaging Sciences are the two that best fit the description above...then there are the rest.
