Hi Robin,
I would recommend contacting an experienced web design person. It can be a bit of an up front cost, but customers/consumers are very "web-literate" and have pretty high expectations when it comes to websites. Their opinion of your company will be formed by their website experience. A good designer will help you create, not only your web image, but your company image as well.
I have found that it is important for the visitor to be able to interact with areas of the website (video, audio, slideshow, etc). Another important thing is to have contact information easily accessible. Finally, FAQs are very helpful. Customers want to feel adequately informed of your product before they even talk to you. They feel less vulnerable to what they perceive will be a "sales pitch" that way.
